OUR #FUTURESHAPER STORIES

“I am a 1st year Business Apprentice at Honeywell Aerospace Yeovil and will be specialising in HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) for the last 2 years of my apprenticeship. I am currently working towards obtaining my Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification which is recognised both internally at Honeywell and externally. The project is based around creating a HSE training plan to help organise and filter training for the employees automatically to ensure the most suitable training is available and the relevant managers are informed when training is completed. I feel very lucky to be part of such a supportive project team and to work alongside a welcoming and helpful workforce. I look forward to gaining more responsibilities and furthering my career here.“

“After my 2-year tenure as a 1st year Aerospace Business Apprentice here at Honeywell Aerospace Yeovil, I had the opportunity to learn about the different business units and will now specialise in the Quality department. Here, I am on a project that is based on assembly and control of tooling that is used to create production parts. The project objective is to improve the ‘5S’ level in the department and create a standard for operators, ultimately to aid them in finding tooling and to reduce waste. The team is very supportive, collaborative and kind and I feel very lucky to be part of it.  I am eager and ready to develop my career and take on more responsibility. I am also now pursuing my Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification which is a globally respected qualification."

“I have recently started as a Materials Engineering Degree Apprentice and my role gives me the opportunity to discover and learn how materials are tested through to analysing and understanding the structure and properties of the materials.
My apprenticeship allows me to expand my growth and knowledge of the aerospace industry; alongside getting the opportunity to explore the vast insights about how a base material is transformed into a component.  This component is then fitted into an aircraft to increase efficiency and make it more eco-friendly.“

“Having progressed from an apprenticeship, I have held numerous Engineering roles and I am now in a Leadership role.  During this journey I have worked with a range of commercial and industrial clients and that experience has greatly influenced my journey and career.  Honeywell Leadership are very good at supporting training and development to underpin your career and they offer a range of coaching and support for this.”

“I am the Engineering Director here at Yeovil Aerospace and I started my Honeywell #Futureshaper journey as an Apprentice, which I passed with a HND in Mechanical Engineering.  Starting as a Design Engineer, I was promoted to a Senior Design Engineer. Over the next few years, my career developed with the support of training and development, my career trajectory meant I eventually got to fully test the end products and see them functioning live on aircraft. As part of a global organisation, I am now proud to say that I am the Director for Honeywell UK and a partner company of Honeywell BV in the Netherlands. My story is one of success and opportunity, always supported by Honeywell and brought about by the fantastic Honeywell Apprenticeship Scheme.“

“Starting as an Apprentice where I was supported in academic and job-related work experience, I was lucky enough to be supported for an MBA and I continued to learn through the Internal Executive Deployment programs as well.  I now lead our Europe Projects Organisation in HBS and my role is to lead our Europe team to identify and win new customer projects, maximising efficiency and profit and deliver successfully on this, within budget and on time.  I am also working on the HQ for the Astra Zeneca project which alone is a $1 billion + single site project with lots of variety and opportunity within it.   The best projects I have worked on have been at Wembley, the UK’s home to football of which I am a lover.
The culture at Honeywell is one of challenge, reward and opportunity for great people that want this.”
